Bill O'Connor is a recognized leader in the special servicing of commercial mortgage backed securities (CMBS) and related aspects of loan workouts. He concentrates his practice on creditors' rights litigation, loan workouts, loan portfolio sales and acquisitions, rescue financing, bankruptcies, restructurings, ICC arbitrations, international documentary credits, multinational insolvencies and restructurings, and Foreign Sovereign Immunity Act cases. He also has an active international practice involving infrastructure and project finance.
Bill co-leads a team representing leading financial institutions, special servicers, hedge funds, and real estate opportunity funds. He is a founding member and past chairman of the High Yield Distressed Realty Assets (HYDRA) Forum of CREFC, the leading industry trade association for the commercial real estate finance industry.
James Watlington, Barrister & Attorney is the principal of both the firm and company. Prior to forming the Firm, he was Legal Advisor and Head of the Legal Services Department of the Bermuda Office of Deloitte & Touche, which, through its various offices, provided specialist accounting, audit and taxation advice, as well as actuarial, commercial and consultancy services to individuals and institutions worldwide.
Mr. Watlington was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1975 and Bermuda in 1976. He has worked in the financial services sector in Bermuda and Asia, where he founded and headed the Hong Kong office of the Bank of N. T. Butterfield & Son Ltd. during the 1980s. He has extensive experience in the formation and administration of offshore corporate and trust structures for clients on a worldwide basis.
Mr. Kyle Mrotek is a Consulting Actuary with The Actuarial Advantage, having joined the firm in 2013. Kyle has worked as a property/casualty actuarial consultant for 15 years. In his current position Mr. Mrotek specializes in providing actuarial services to insurance companies, self-insured entities, and lending institutions.
Prior to joining The Actuarial Advantage, Mr. Mrotek was a Vice President with Marsh Captive Solutions for three years providing a variety of actuarial services to several dozen captive insurance companies encompassing many domiciles, industries, and coverages. He was also a Principal at Milliman, Inc. for 11 years working as an actuarial consultant to insurance and reinsurance companies, captive insurers, lending institutions, investors, and government agencies. Kyle also worked in London on secondment for 18 months.
Mr. Mrotek is Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries.
